Our pastor is Michael G. Holcomb

First United Methodist Church of Texas City was the first church of any denomination to establish itself in Texas City. Founded in 1896, First UMC has been involved in local and world ministries for over a century. The current sanctuary was built in 1940 and still retains the warmth and beauty of years ago with modern audio and visual systems that have been incorporated to enhance the worship services and special events.

What to expect when you visit:
Our services keep the traditional elements of the United Methodist worship service and blend in newer, contemporary elements and themes. People of all ages and backgrounds will hear the Word of God and feel right at home.

Our newly remodeled sanctuary has a state-of-the-art audio and video system that further enhances the worship experience.

What we offer:
Our congregation is an "Every Member In Ministry (EMIM)" congregation. We have over 150 ministries where any one can serve others and the church, regardless of their age or abilities. Members are encouraged to form any ministry they are passionate about and, with proper approvals, the ministry will be supported by the church.
Our congregation is known to be a loving and caring bunch of folks. You will feel very welcome the first time you visit.

We offer bible classes and activities for people of all ages. Our children's and youth ministries are some of the best in the county. Our Children's Day Out Ministry serves an average of 35 children twice per week. For the teens and adults the Fellowship of the Brush art class meets weekly. We also have a special Seniors' Day Out group that meets twice per month for fun, food and fellowship. See our calendar for a complete listing of all that goes on at First UMC. There is something for everyone.

How can I make an donation for Memorials or Tributes in honor or memory of an individual or a group?
If you are visiting the church, special envelopes are provided in the pews for memorial/honorarium gifts.
You may also mail the donation to the church.

In either case, be sure to write in the memo section who the gift is in memory or honor of. You may also include a note if you like.
